Who Will Take The Baton?

My text will come from Acts 1:8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Lord has been resurrected and is ready to ascend back to Heaven but before he goes he leaves his final wishes and commands. He tells his disciples that it is now time for them to step up to the plate and carry on his witness and his work. That is, he passed on the baton to his disciples.

Recently as I sat in a funeral service I wondered who will take the baton of the deceased? Her child, her grand kids, or maybe just a close friend. But who?

It’s sad to think that no one will take the baton to carry it on because their testimony was not to the point that anyone would want to carry on the life or work of that individual that has deceased.

Even as Christians we waste so much time being a sorry Christian that we never leave a good enough impression or testimony to those that are left behind that they would want to take the baton.

May God give you the right kind of character so that someone else would want to take the baton out of your hands.
