What You Don't Know Can Hurt You.
Our text is from Romans 10:14.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
There are those that believe that’s what you don’t know can’t hurt you. But that’s not always the case.
Try to plead ignorance when you violate a traffic law. They will tell you that ignorance is no excuse. You are supposed to be responsible enough to know the rules and regulations if you have intentions to drive.
That’s the way it is with the free gift of salvation. Our text says, “and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? If you don’t hear you won’t know how to be saved. If you want to know; all you have to do is hear what the Bible says. Sometimes you can hear it from a gospel tract. Sometimes you may hear it from some individual. Sometimes you may hear it on radio and TV and sometimes you may hear it in church. But if you want to know how to go to Heaven you can find out. It is there, but you have to want it. And you need to hear it but the Lord won’t force it upon you.
The choice lies in your hands.
Just because you don’t know how to be saved doesn’t mean that you can’t find out so ignorance is no excuse and what you don’t know will not only hurt you, but it may very well cost you eternity in a lake of fire. It would pay you to find out what is going on today because you don’t have any guarantees of tomorrow.
