What's Your Problem?

Our text that we are drawing from today is from Matthew 4:23-24.

4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

By reading this text one can see right away that regardless of what kind of problem you may have, Jesus can help you.

Whether it is a spiritual, psychological, or physical problem our Lord knows what the problem is and how to deal with it.

Our text shows that people back in Bible times had problems just as we do today. They were people just like us with feelings and problems just like us. Jesus was able to cure their problems.

What’s your problem?

Is it mental or psychological? Is it a physical or health issue or is it a spiritual problem? Jesus can and will help if you want him to. I have noticed over the years that many of our problems are our own fault and many of our problems are interrelated. That is, they are connected many times with something deeper or they are connected with another type of problem.

Spiritual problems can be caused by physical problems and vise verse. When a man is in pain, it is hard to connect with God because of it. Mental problems can be caused by spiritual problems. When a man doesn’t have a very close walk with the Lord he starts having a hard time with his thinking and the devil will go to work on his or her mind. Some people are not in mental wards because they have obeyed the Bible, but because they have disobeyed the Bible. This is not the case always, but many times it is the case. And then there are those that have physical problems and in return they can cause mental problems. They become depressed and discouraged and many just give up spiritually.

So, what’s your problem?

Friend, I’m here to tell you that Jesus can help if you will just give him a chance.

Try Him. No doubt you have tried other things, why not give the Lord Jesus Christ a chance? How could it hurt?

I remember one case as I was at work and not feeling good and I was starting to think negative thoughts and it was like the Lord was saying to me (not in a audible voice), “What are you doing thinking about yourself all the time? There are others that are a lot worse than you.” At that point I knew this wasn’t like me, and that the devil was working on me so I started singing a song, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. It worked! I was back, and off the negative thoughts. I had a good day the rest of the day. I learned a great truth. The Bible is true when it talks about being caught in the “snare of the devil” 2nd Timothy 2:26. I was caught off guard and didn’t even realize it. But the victory came through Jesus Christ.

Pray and read your Bible. Walk close to the Lord, and what ever your problem is, the Lord can help you with it. You can get the victory through Jesus Christ.

Here are 2 verses of the great song Christ the Lord is Risen Today, by Charles Wesley.

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
        Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

This song is still in most hymn books today and we still sing it.

What a victorious song!
