Time to Go
My text today is from Genisis 12:1. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
We all like to have a place that we call home. A place of rest and solitude. A place where there is refuge and security from the world. But there may come a time in our lives that we are to move.
In our text Abram was told to leave his kin folks and go to a land where God wanted to bless him. I’m sure he didn’t like the idea of leaving his family and his nativity, however he may have been ready to go under some unseen and unstated circumstances. That happens a lot. In any event, God said to go. God wanted to bless Abram and He couldn’t do it until he was away from his family. Sometimes that is when God can speak to us. Abram had to get away from the influences of others so he could get the blessing and will of God. As a result, the Savoir of the world came through his linage.
What if he decided not to move or felt he didn’t want to leave his family? What catastrophic events would have resulted from the wrong decision?
What about you? Are you willing to move at the Lord’s call. Do you want His blessing? You should always be ready to move at the Lord’s command. He knows best.
Better to go with God’s blessing than to stay without God’s blessing.
When He calls it may be time to go.
