There's No Place Like Home
Our text is from John 14:2-3.
14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
In this passage Jesus Christ is preparing his disciples for his departure but gives them the promise of their eternal home. Yes, it must have been heartbreaking to think about losing their friend of over three years but it wasn’t all gloom and doom. Jesus promised that He would come back for them. He said that He would be going to a place where one day they would be also. He also promised that it would be prepared ahead of time for them. He promised that where He was they would be also. This is home.
Our earthly home should be a place of peace, comfort, security and protection, rest, fellowship with loved ones, and happiness and joy. That’s what we look for during the holidays when we spend time with loved ones. As the holidays approach enjoy them because when it is all said and done there is still no place like home.
The Lord Jesus Christ beckons us to the heavenly home above because it has been prepared for us.
Don’t miss out on it because there is no place like home.
