The Lifeguard

Our text will come from 1st Samuel 22:23. Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

King David has won a great victory by killing the giant and as a result his father-in-law gets jealous and tries to kill David, so he gets out of the area. Those that are with him are despised as well because they support David and his cause. So David tells them to stay with him so they would be safe, very much like a lifeguard.

All of us at times have felt we were in danger and needed protection. It is in our nature to want to feel safe and secure. Whether at home, the work place, school, traveling or even at church now days we want to feel safe and though many try all kinds of things to make them safe none quite does the job because whatever you try there are always vulnerabilities.

Money can’t keep you safe. It may be gone tomorrow.

People can’t keep you safe because they are not reliable and many of them break promises.

Science can’t keep you safe. They have more questions than answers, and are not sure of them.

Religion can’t make you secure because if it is just religion, you never know what is enough.

There is only one thing that can make you secure and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. With him there is safety and without him you will be overcome and defeated by your enemies. So if you want to be safe call on the Lifeguard to rescue you. He is always there and he always does the job right.

You are safe with Him.

May you call on the right Lifeguard.
