The House Builder
Our text will come from Mark 6:3. Is not this the carpenter…?
Jesus returns to his own town to preach the gospel of the kingdom and perform miracles so they would believe in him that he was the Messiah, the one that was to come to save them from their sins. Most of them however did not believe in him. They just thought he was the carpenter that grew up there and went off to pursue his career out of town only to come back to his hometown to visit from time to time.
They didn’t realize that he was a carpenter, one that knew something about building homes not just houses.
Psalm 127:1 states, “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.
You see, you may have a nice house to live in with all the bells and whistles but without Jesus Christ in your home, you only have a house; you do not have a home.
To build a home you have to start with a foundation—Jesus Christ.
Then you need four walls--Discipline, Love, Harmony, and Honor.
Then the roof--Bible and Prayer.
If your house is built like this you have a home–not just a house.
May God help you to have a home where Jesus is the foundation.
