Sorry, Closed for Business
Our text will come from 2nd Timothy 4: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
In our text Paul was telling Timothy, a young preacher, how it would be in the last days. He said that people would no longer want to hear the truth. They will no longer want to hear about doctrine. In the last days they would be tired of hearing the word of God. In other words as far as their attitude toward the truth is concerned they would be closed for business.
People are just not interested in the greatest book of all time. I suppose it is because of the title, “Holy Bible.” People want to hear a lie rather than the truth. So according to our text they get teachers that say what they want to hear. People will become just plain sorry.
So you could hang a sign on most churches today that say, “Sorry, Closed for business.”
