Our text will come from Philippians 3:1. Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
The apostle Paul tells the Christians at Philippi that it did not bother him to repeat some things to them. I need that as well. I learn by repetition. I know there are some don’t. Some can hear something the first time and they have it. They are quick learners. But I have to hear some things several times before it begins to stick.
There are some things we as Christians need to hear over and over because to repeat some things is safe and good for us, after all, we are children and children need to have things repeated like being told to turn the lights off, don’t talk now, raise your hand, raise the toilet seat, don’t hold the refrigerator door open, etc.
As far as spiritual things are concerned, we as saved people need to hear that we are saved by the grace of God and not by any works of our own, we are saved from Hell, we are saved forever, God still loves us in spite of our sin, we are forgiven from our sins, we will see our loved ones again, we are saved to serve the Lord, we will get a brand new body one day, Jesus is coming back, the gospel is Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, the Bible is the word of God, and the Lord still wants people saved. It doesn’t hurt us to hear these things over and over again because sometimes we get down and we need to hear encouraging words because we won’t hear it on T.V. or from other forms of media.
There is an old song that goes…
Sing them over again to me—wonderful words of life; Let me more of their beauty see—wonderful words of life. Words of life and beauty, Teach me faith and duty: Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life; Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.
Remember, to hear some things repeated is safe, encouraging, and a blessing.
