Our text will come from Exodus 13:3. And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place…
Since Mom has passed on over to glory to be with the Lord I still have many precious memories of her. That’s one thing death can’t take away from me.
I’m thankful God has given us a mind so we can recall the good and pleasant things of the past. It’s those memories that may at times keep us going because though a loved one may leave us, our precious memories keep us hanging on till we see them again. Whether they may have departed temporarily or gone on to Heaven our memory of them gives us good thoughts so we can endure the difficult days till we meet again.
In our text Moses tells the children of Israel to remember the day that they came out of Egypt, from bondage. Why? Because the devil would soon go to work on them trying to convince them that Egypt was better than the wilderness even though they were in slavery for centuries.
The devil is interested in keeping you down rather than encouraging you to keep going. In the wilderness God was leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land and as long as they followed Him they would make it to their destination, where freedom was. Freedom is always where the Lord is. The devil is interested in keeping you in captivity just as the Israelites were in Egypt. God didn’t want them to forget where they came from so they would keep their eyes on where they were going.
Don’t forget the precious memories of your own salvation and when you got saved and don’t let anyone keep you from following the Lord. Follow him and you will get to your destination.
May God give you some precious memories.
