Peace Of Mind Means An Awful Lot
Our text will be taken from Philippians chapter 4 verse 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
In this age of hurry, worry, and hustle, it is not easy to keep a sound or peaceful mind. Everyone seems to be in hurry or a worry mode. If you are not hurrying to get somewhere you are worrying about it. Then if that doesn’t get you down then you can always count on the news to get you into worry mode. (I really believe that is what the news cast is meant to do; to worry you and steal your joy.) Anyway if you find peace of mind, it won’t be in the newspaper or the media (of any kind). It won’t be in science, philosophy, or religion. It will be in the Holy Bible. By that I mean that Jesus Christ is the only one to give you peace of mind and you will find that in the Holy Bible.
Yes, it has death, destruction, sin, and various crimes of passion and violence, but the good thing about the Bible is that it doesn’t glamorize sin and it shows that you will reap what you sow or you will be judged for it. It doesn’t leave you hanging with a bad or a negative ending. I’m sure that’s why there are so many suicides taking place. Many people can’t find any light at the end of the tunnel. In the Bible all the wrongs will be made right and sin will be judged. That’s what will give you peace of mind. Knowing that there will come a time that all the bad and evil will be straightened out…thank God!
As my brother said to me one time, “Peace of mind means an awful lot.” It’s true. If you have peace of mind, even if you don’t understand it, you can face anything.
May God help you to find peace of mind in his Holy Word. Don’t look for it anywhere else. You won’t find it.
