Now He Is Comforted

Our text will come from Luke 16 (again), and verse 25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

This is the famous story of the rich man and a poor man named Lazarus.

One died and went to Hell (the rich man) and the other (Lazarus) died and went to Abraham bosom, a picture of Heaven. It did come to pass that one of them was no longer in a desirable place while the other was in a place of comfort. Notice the highlighted portion of the text.

Time will catch up with us all and so will the judgment after death for all. If you are poor, but saved you will end up in a place of comfort. If you are rich, and un-saved you will end up in a place of torment. Which would you choose? Money and riches are not the deciding factors of eternity. Jesus is. If you have him in your heart you will be saved. If you don’t have him in your heart you won’t be saved.

The lesson is clear.

Whether you are poor or rich you must be saved. Regardless of your status, if you have been washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ you will one day be comforted.

Praise the Lord!
