Our text comes from Ephesians 6:18. …watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Three things about our text.
In the first place, our text uses the word “watching” and earlier in the same verse “praying”. The two words go together, watching and praying. Praying always, and watching with all perseverance are the two key things that will keep us on a good and happy relationship with the Lord. They both keep us out of trouble and keep us close to the Lord. Even our Lord. right before he was to be arrested told his disciples to watch and pray so they would not enter into temptation. See…the two keeps you from getting into trouble. If you are praying you don’t have time to be doing something wrong.
Secondly, the saints need you to be watching for them and with perseverance. Perseverance is the idea that you will be tempted to quit watching. So don’t quit. If you are watching out for me, don’t quit, keep it up. I need your prayers and you looking out for me.
Lastly, whenever one does something wrong he is not praying or watching for Jesus to come back. When you sin, you are not praying and are counting on the fact that Jesus won’t come back at that moment. But you should be watching for him. Get the drift? So we are to keep and eye out for him in the since of serving others for him. Secondly we are to keep and eye out for him in the since of looking for him. Are you doing both?
In these last days may God help you to Keep an Eye Out for Him.
