It Takes Both
Our text will come from Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
How many times have we heard that we should think positive thoughts and look at things positively? How many times have we heard that the power of positive thinking will give you success? That’s good in some areas of life especially where the news is concerned and where self confidence is needed to perform a task, however, there are times when the power of negative thinking will pay off more than the power of positive thinking. For instance, when it comes to sports you have to focus on your weaknesses to get better. In the ream of science you will learn more from mistakes than you will from success. In the spiritual realm, one must see themselves lost and without hope before they can be saved. You can’t be saved if you think you are good. You must see yourself as a sinner. Christ came to die for sinners, not good people.
It’s just like a light bulb. In order to get light from the bulb you have to have a positive and a negative charge. It won’t work with only the positive charge. It takes both, the positive and the negative. I said that you won’t have light unless you have both charges. Get the picture? Notice our text. Negative first and then positive next.
So remember, it takes both and with only one you will fail, as a matter of fact, if you don’t look at some things negatively it will cost you more than you will want to pay.
May God help you to be enlightened.
