Our text today is from Mark chapter 8:36 -38. 36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Our text is a great one for thought. What price do you put on a person’s life? Even greater, what price do you put on the soul that will live forever. You see, after death the body will rot and that’s the end of it but the soul, well, that’s a horse of a different color. The soul is eternal. It doesn’t rot or decay. It lives on.
When the Lord Jesus died for us the Bible says, that his soul was made a sacrifice. Read Isaiah 53:10-11.
So, when he offered himself for us, he offered something that was priceless. What amount can you put on an eternal soul? This was offered as payment for your sins and mine. It was priceless.
When thinking about this, then you have to ask how much is my soul worth? It’s priceless. Look at the text. Verse 37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? The obvious answer would be, “Nothing”, yet millions of people make deals with the world, the flesh, and the devil everyday to give their eternal soul for something only temporary. A bad business deal. But many are convinced it is a good deal and sell out. Then the devil is laughs all the way to the bank and he laughs at them all the way to the lake of fire.
May God help you to see a good deal from a scam.
Remember, your soul is priceless. Don’t let someone talk you out of it.
