Is That All You Got?
My text will come from 1st Corinthians 1:30-31. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
If you ask people what they are counting on to get them to Heaven you will hear all kinds of things.
They will say they give to charities.
They will say that they are doing the best they can.
They will say they go to church or they are religious.
They will say they are a great contributor to humanity and help folks out.
They will say that they are a good person.
They will let you know that if anybody goes to Heaven that they will because they are better than most people.
After hearing these various answers I can reply, “Is that all you got?
If it is then you won’t make it. You don’t have near enough. You better have a lot have more than that to get you into Heaven. You will have to be as good as the Lord Jesus Christ and he was sinless. If you are not then you will end up in a lake of fire. You see, the Bible says, that there is none good, there is none righteous, and all our righteousnesses (our little good deeds) are filthy rags, (Romans 3 & Isaiah 64). No one comes close to having the righteousness of God. The Bible declares that we are all sinners and come short of God’s glory. So if you don’t have more righteousness that God you are in deep trouble.
From our text we learn that saved people have the righteousness of Jesus Christ and any righteousness we have is not ours but that of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Remember it’s not your righteousness (filthy rags) that will get you into Heaven, it’s the righteousness of God.
If you don’t have Jesus Christ living in you right now you do not have God’s righteousness.
You may be a truly good and moral person from your standpoint but from God’s standpoint
…is that all you got?
