I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

Our text is from Jeremiah 17:7. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

It seems like everywhere we turn we hear about more bad news these days. Whether on the computer, radio, newspapers, magazines, or the T.V. bad news seems to prevail and because of this many people get all shook up and worried about these times in which we live in.

We live in “Perilous times” no doubt. I mean, who doesn’t know that that watches the news? And it is the media that tries to stir you up to the point of despair. The Bible tells us how to conduct ourselves in perilous times. We are to trust in the one that is in control, not the ones that can’t control anything. The Lord is the one that will take care of us in perilous times.

If you take time to read the verses preceding the text you will see those that do not trust in the Lord will suffer dryness and unfruitfulness and will not see when good comes. In other words he will be deceived, I see that today. When some people try to do something good, others will think it is bad. But the ones who trust in the Lord will be blessed and is likened to a tree that is near water in times of drought but just keeps on producing and actually doesn’t even know there is a drought.

As we face tomorrow let us continue to serve our Lord today and trust in Jesus Christ who holds tomorrow.

Please read the lyrics of the great song entitled I Don’t Know About Tomorrow.

I don’t know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day. I don’t borrow from its sunshine For its skies may turn to grey.

I don’t worry o’er the future, For I know what Jesus said. And today I’ll walk beside Him, For He knows what is ahead.

Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand But I know who holds tomorrow And I know who holds my hand.

Every step is getting brighter As the golden stairs I climb; Every burden’s getting lighter, Every cloud is silver-lined.

There the sun is always shining, There no tear will dim the eye; At the ending of the rainbow Where the mountains touch the sky.

Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand But I know who holds tomorrow And I know who holds my hand.

I don’t know about tomorrow; It may bring me poverty. But the one who feeds the sparrow, Is the one who stands by me.

And the path that is my portion May be through the flame or flood; But His presence goes before me And I’m covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand But I know who holds tomorrow And I know who holds my hand.
