He's Watching For You
Our text is from the book of Luke. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. Luke 15:20.
This is the famous parable of the wayward son or the prodigal son, but today my focus is not on the son but the father.
After the son leaves home and then comes to himself and realizes he messed up, he goes back to be as one of his father’s servants but notice our text were it says, “But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him…” It looks as though the Father was watching for him, perhaps on a daily basis. In either case his father didn’t forget about him and was hoping for his son’s return. What a blessing!
It is good to know that when we get sidetracked or stray off the father is still looking for us to return home. He is watching for us. I’m thankful that he is ready to forgive and plenteous in mercy, if not, we would all be in trouble.
When you stray off may God help you to remember that he is watching for you.
Have you come to yourself yet?
