Glad To Do It
Out text is from 2 Corinthians 9:7. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
You’ve heard the expression, “Glad to do it” in response to “Thanks for your help.” Well, that’s the way it should be when it comes to serving the Lord.
Notice our text.
God loves a cheerful giver. We shouldn’t serve the Lord with a dread or just out of obligation. It should be out of love and joy in our hearts for the ability and opportunity to be able to serve. You know, some folks aren't able to do what we can do. Our attitude should be one that serves out of thankfulness and we should be glad that we get to serve.
To some folks going to church, giving of their money or time, helping around the church, working around the church, and being faithful in their efforts is not cheerful or a happy experience. So as a result, they become unfaithful or quit coming at all. When they do come they have a unpleasant or sour look on their face and criticize others that are serving with the right spirit. This is the way it always ends up and they either get right or get out. In some cases, when they stay, they can’t be counted on and it would be better off it they did refrain from coming. Such attitudes create a bad spirit in the church. Sad but true. Lot of it is just due to laziness. Either way they are not cheerful when doing any of the Lord’s work.
May God help you to be Glad to do it…for Him.
