Our text for today is from Psalm 14:1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The Lord states that those that say, “There is no God” are fools. Why is that? Because many has just not thought the thing through.
If there is no God then there is no resurrection after death because Jesus Christ states he is the resurrection in John 11.
When you really think about it the whole thing becomes foolish after a while.
I mean what would be the point of doing right if there were no God? What would be the point of being great or being well known? 10,000 years from now who would care what you did and what difference would it make anyway? After 10,000 years no one would even know your name. I mean, who knows some one by name from the 8th century in China? Maybe some historian but outside of them, who else and who cares?
Why would you suffer some 90 or 100 years give or take, to experience war, famine, disease, hospitals, heartbreak, taxes, sorrow, pain, funerals, and bills? If there is no God and no after life, you would be much better off not to live at all or end it all at 16 years of age. If you want to know why there are so many suicides, it is because some have thought it through and believed that they are better off dead than alive. Well they are not better off if they wake up in a lake of fire.
But thank God there is a reason to live and there is a reason to do the right thing. If there is a God then one thing is certain and that is we will all meet him one day for a pat on the back or a rebuke. Adjustments will be made and wrongs will be made right.
Don’t be an April’s fool.
