A Pearl of Great Price
My text will come from Matthew 13:45-46. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
As my wife and I celebrate our 28th anniversary, I want to thank God for all the great years I’ve had with her. She is smart, practical, respectful, encouraging, caring, a hard worker, loving, understanding, and not afraid to give of herself. She’s pretty too! That always helps.
She comes from good stock. She had a good dad with a good sense of humor and a great mom that truly cared for her children, something lacking in many moms today.
I thank God she is not lazy. She rises up early to take advantage of the early hours to get things done such as cleaning dishes, washing clothes, and cleaning house. She gets more work done in the morning than some women get done all week.
When I met her I did not know that she was truly a “pearl of great price”, “far above rubies.” She will read the Bible with me which I’m so thankful for. She goes to church with me and works there as well. She is saved and loves the Lord. I couldn’t ask for a better wife. The only thing I regret is not meeting her much earlier, but that is where I trust that God does all things well. Perhaps I was not ready for her earlier in my life or perhaps she was not ready for me. God knows what he is doing and oftentimes more than a few, we don’t.
I know I don’t deserve a woman like my wife but God has been so merciful and kind to me. I’m so grateful.
If you have one of those gems or pearls of great price, may God help you to see it, realize it, and don’t take them for granted.
Thank God for them because not everyone has…
A Pearl of Great Price.
