A Lot May Be Riding On You
My text will come from Job chapter 1 verse 8. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job, a great man of God was going to be put to the test of fiery trials. He was a clean, moral, God fearing, and upright man yet he was going to be put to the test by God.
The Devil no doubt had been bragging about his servants so the Lord told Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job…bragging about him. So evidently there was some kind of wager or bet going on behind the scenes that Job knew nothing about.
The trials and testing began. His wife wanted him to curse God and die. Satan wanted him to curse God. And his friends tried to convince him he was not right or these things wouldn’t be happening to him.
At the end of Jobs’ story he was blessed more that at the beginning and he realized the importance of serving God faithfully. If Job would have just quit on God look how it would have made the Lord feel in the eyes of Satan. Look what it would have done to his kinfolks, fellow workers, and his wife. He would have let them down. How disappointed and embarrassed they would have felt? His testimony would have been destroyed.
Perhaps you have gone through something similar like that? Keep in mind if you are trying to do right and things go wrong for you and you don’t understand it, it may be that God and the Devil have a wager going on over you.
Stay faithful to the Lord and his service because a lot may be riding on you.
