A Change of Tune
My text will be taken from Luke 16 verse 24. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
This is the famous story of the rich man and Lazarus.
The rich man no doubt had anything he desired as most rich folks do, however there came time for him to die and now he is on the other side of eternity and now he has a change of tune.
He no longer cares about clothes—he cares about his soul.
He no longer cares about food—he cares about getting mercy.
He no longer cares about booze--he cares about one drop of water on his tongue.
He no longer cares about money—he cares about his comfort from the flames.
He no longer cares about his house—he cares about his brothers that are heading to the same place he is at.
He now is taking eternal matters seriously as should we all.
You can say his priorities changed. What was at one time important now means nothing and what meant nothing to him at one time now means everything.
It is definitely a change of tune.
