And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Mark 6:31.

Our text is from the time of Christ’s earthly ministry when he was healing folks and raising them from the dead and after a short period of time word has gotten around and they were soon thronged by the great crowds. No doubt after several weeks of this Jesus and the disciples grew weary and tired perhaps going many nights without much sleep so after a certain point the Lord tells them that it’s time for a break.

There are times when you may get tired and you need a break also. Many put in long hours at work and then come home only to find more things to be done there. So we push ourselves to the point of breaking by loosing our tempers or saying something that we shouldn’t or doing something we shouldn’t or even to the point of having a nervous breakdown. During these times you need a break. The Lord knew this and that’s why he made the Sabbath [one day of rest] for man once to be observed in each week. So what do we do? We ignore this until our health breaks down and then we find ourselves in a condition that we have to rest which is about all you can do in a hospital bed apart from vital checks every 30 minutes. You won’t make a liar out of the Lord so if he says you need one day out of seven for rest; you need it.

Remember; the day of rest was made for man.

Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
