12 Inches from Hell
Our text for today is from Romans 10 verse10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Some folks believe in their head that they are going to Heaven when they die. So when you ask them a question like, “Are you going to Heaven when you die?” Their response is “I hope so.” Their only hope that they have, is hope that comes from their head, not from God’s word. Everyone has various beliefs and ideas. But since God created the universe and drew up the guidelines on how man can have eternal life, it is his idea that matters, not our opinions. We all have different opinions. We come and go, but God remains constant. We change, but God remains the same. So God said in his word that it is with the heart that man believes and trusts in what Jesus Christ did for him. So you may be asking what is the difference between head and heart belief. With the head you are hoping for something and with the heart you are relying on something.
For example, In my head I may believe that I can fly from Louisville, Ky. to Pensacola, Fl. But it’s not until I get on the plane that I’m believing it in my heart.
That’s the difference between Hell and Heaven.
Head belief or heart belief.
There is about 12 inches between your head and your heart.
